Your own domain name: .pk or .com, and how to set it up
A web address customers can remember, and the one decision that is hard to change later.

Your domain is your address on the internet, the part after www. A store at noortextiles.pk looks more established than one on a long shared address, it is easier to say out loud and print on a bag, and it stays yours if you ever change the platform behind it.
Do you need one on day one?
No. Every Biizay store comes with a free address such as yourshop.biizay.com, and that is a perfectly good place to start while you work out whether selling online is right for you. When you are ready, you can connect your own domain on a paid plan without rebuilding anything.
.pk or .com?
When .pk is the better choice
If you sell mainly within Pakistan, a .pk address tells customers at a glance that you are a local business. It is also often easier to find a short, clean name ending in .pk than in .com, where most short names were taken long ago. Domains ending in .pk are managed by PKNIC, Pakistan's registry, and you can register them through it or through a registrar that offers .pk.
When .com is the better choice
If you sell abroad, ship internationally, or plan to, a .com reads as neutral wherever the customer is. The same applies if your business is in the Gulf and serves customers across several countries.
Can you have both?
Yes. Many businesses register both and point the second one at the first, so typing either address lands customers in the same place. Register the version you will not use too, if it is available, so nobody else can take it.
Choosing the name itself
- Use the name customers already know you by.
- Keep it short and easy to spell from hearing it once.
- Avoid hyphens and numbers, which people forget or mistype.
- Check it is not someone else's brand or trademark.
- Say it out loud on the phone: if you have to spell it twice, try another.
Connecting a domain to your store
Connecting a domain means telling the internet that your address should show your store. You do this in two places: the store, where you add the domain, and the registrar where you bought it, where you change a DNS record to point at the store.
- 1Buy the domain from a registrar.
- 2Add it in your store's settings.
- 3At your registrar, add the DNS record your store shows you.
- 4Wait for it to take effect. This can take from minutes to a day while the change spreads.
- 5Your store issues the security certificate, so the address works with https and the padlock.
Keep it renewed
Domains are rented for a year or more at a time, not bought forever. If a renewal fails, your store stops loading at that address, and in the worst case someone else can register it. Turn on automatic renewal at your registrar and make sure the card or account it charges is kept up to date.
