WooCommerce vs Biizay: which suits a store in Pakistan?

A plugin you run yourself or a platform that runs for you. What that difference means day to day.

If you have asked a web developer in Pakistan to build you an online store, there is a good chance the answer was WooCommerce. It is everywhere: free to download, endlessly adjustable, and familiar to almost every freelancer who has built a WordPress site. Biizay takes a different approach. You sign up, and the store, the counter till, bookings and quotes are already there and kept running for you.

Neither approach is wrong. They suit different businesses. This comparison sets out what actually differs, with the facts about WooCommerce taken from its own pages as of October 2026, and says plainly where WooCommerce is the better choice.

What is WooCommerce, exactly?

WooCommerce is an open-source ecommerce plugin for WordPress. The software itself is free to download and has no monthly platform fee. What it does not include is somewhere to run it. You need web hosting and a domain for the WordPress site, and someone has to keep WordPress, WooCommerce and every plugin updated. WooCommerce's own marketplace offers a large range of extensions for features the core does not cover.

Biizay is a hosted platform. There is nothing to install or update: your store runs on Biizay's servers, on a free address like yourshop.biizay.com or on your own domain on a paid plan. You pay a plan fee instead of a hosting bill, and there is a Free plan to start on. See the current plans and limits.

WooCommerce vs Biizay: the key differences

Setup and upkeep

With WooCommerce, the total cost is hosting, a domain, any paid themes and extensions, and the time (yours or a developer's) to set it up and keep it healthy. Updates matter: an out-of-date plugin is one of the most common ways a WordPress site gets broken or compromised. If you already pay a developer you trust, this may be fine. If you are on your own, it is a real job.

On Biizay the upkeep is ours. You pick your kind of business when you sign up and get a store laid out for it, then change the look in the drag-and-drop page builder or switch themes without touching code.

Payments at checkout

This is the question most Pakistani sellers ask first, so here are the facts. WooPayments, WooCommerce's own card processing, is not offered to businesses registered in Pakistan; its supported-country list includes the UAE (business accounts only) but not Pakistan. That does not stop a WooCommerce store taking payments here: Pakistani payment gateways and wallet providers offer their own WooCommerce plugins, so a WooCommerce store can add local wallet and card payments through them.

Biizay's checkout offers cash on delivery, built in and on by default, and card payments through your own Stripe account. Stripe is not available to businesses registered in Pakistan, so in practice card checkout on Biizay is for businesses in a Stripe country such as the UAE. Biizay does not take JazzCash, Easypaisa or bank transfer at checkout yet.

Selling at a counter

WooCommerce is a website store. A point of sale for a physical shop usually comes from a separate extension or system, which then has to keep its stock in step with the website. Biizay's point of sale is part of every plan and runs in a web browser on the same stock and prices as your website, so a sale at the counter and an order online come off one count.

Services, bookings and quotes

WooCommerce sells products out of the box; bookings and quote requests come from extensions. On Biizay, services are built in with fixed, hourly or quoted pricing, customers pick a preferred time, and jobs land in a schedule. Quote requests become quotations you price and email, and an accepted quote becomes an order. A quote-only catalogue shows 'Price on request' across a whole B2B store.

Stock, buying and reports

Biizay tracks stock in single pieces, so a box of 50 and a loose piece draw from one count, and purchase orders add stock only when a delivery is received, at an averaged cost. Sales, inventory and customer reports are on every plan; profit and loss and tax reports are on paid plans. With WooCommerce, the reports you get depend on the extensions you add.

Getting found on Google

WooCommerce stores usually add an SEO plugin. Biizay writes page titles, structured data and sitemaps for you, and the Search Console and Google Analytics apps are in the apps catalogue.

Where WooCommerce is the better choice

  • You need JazzCash, Easypaisa or a local card gateway at checkout today.
  • You already run a WordPress site and want the shop inside it.
  • You need a specific extension, or custom code only a developer can write. Biizay has no third-party app store and its code is not yours to change.
  • You want to own and move the whole software stack between hosts.
  • You need courier booking integrations now; Biizay sets delivery charges but does not book couriers.

Where Biizay is the better choice

  • You want a store running this week without hosting, updates or a developer.
  • You sell at a counter as well as online and need one stock count.
  • You sell services, take bookings or send quotations.
  • You want to start free and pay as the business grows, priced in rupees.

Is WooCommerce free in Pakistan?

The plugin is free. Running it is not: budget for hosting, a domain, any paid extensions or theme, and maintenance. Compare that total, not the download price, with a hosted plan.

Can I move from WooCommerce to Biizay later?

There is no one-click importer from WooCommerce today. Products are added in the portal, or in bulk from ChatGPT or Claude through BiiConnect, which creates them as drafts for you to check. If you are deciding between the two for a new store, our guide to the best ecommerce platforms in Pakistan puts both next to Shopify, Wix and Daraz.
